Dave was delivered from a 25-year heroin addiction.

I started drinking alcohol when I was five years old. By the time I was 11, I began to sniff glue, and later I started to smoke marijuana. By the time I was 15, I was taking LSD and other hallucinogenic drugs.

Around that time, I went to a church meeting with some friends and witnessed the power of God. From then on, I knew I wasn’t right with the Lord. I needed the Holy Spirit and water baptism. I began to hide from the Lord by getting deeply involved in heroin and alcohol. By my early 20’s, I was addicted to heroin, and I continued in that lifestyle of addiction for 25 years. I even survived several overdoses. 

One day, in 1995, I realized that if I didn’t do something about my relationship with God, I was going to die. I decided to get baptized by full immersion. Six weeks later, God filled me with the Holy Spirit, and I spoke in tongues. It was the most peaceful thing I had ever experienced. The fear of death and hell was gone! For the first time in my life, I had peace. I knew the Lord loved me, and every promise in the Bible was true. I felt the weight of the world lifted off my shoulders. God completely took away my desire to use drugs and drink alcohol!
